Home social patronage in the town of Smolyan offers an appropriate form of home care for people over 65 and people with special needs who find it difficult to organize their lives on their own or with the help of relatives. It provides 60 senior citizens with a range of social services related to the supply of hot food, maintenance of hygiene in the premises inhabited by the user, household services, supply of technical aids and more. Upon request, the purchase of food products is made with the funds of the clients, and if necessary, medicines are also purchased. A social worker assists the beneficiaries in filling out documents to various institutions and resolving various cases, and teams of volunteers periodically make social contacts with the users of the service. Those wishing to receive this type of social service submit documents to the Regional Organization of the Bulgarian Red Cross in Smolyan.
The financing of the Home Social Patronage is provided by the Municipality of Smolyan, after winning a competition.
